Obverse description Centrally positioned crowned shield bearing the arms of Solothurn, divided horizontally with vertical lines in the upper half and a plain lower half, flanked by elaborate foliate mantling. A jewelled crown surmounts the escutcheon. The circular Latin legend RESPUBLICA SOLODORENSIS runs along the periphery, separated from the design by a beaded inner border.
