Reverse description The quartered arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg displayed on an oval shield, surmounted by a princely hat and flanked by an elaborate draped mantle with tasselled cords at either side, all rendered in the ornate Baroque heraldic style. The shield bears the traditional Salzburg arms combining the episcopal cross and the horizontal bars of the prince-archbishops. The date 1770 is inscribed in the exergue at the base of the composition. No peripheral legend appears, the denomination indicator 1/4 being incorporated within the field of the coin as referenced in the obverse lettering.
