正面描述 Draped and armored bust of Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I facing right, with long flowing wig, occupying the central field. A small oval cartouche bearing the fraction mark '1/4' appears at the lower left of the bust. The circular Latin legend reads LEOPOLDVS D G R I S A G H B R, distributed around the periphery of the coin. The reverse die shows fine milled borders typical of late 17th-century Habsburg gold coinage. The portrait is rendered in the ornate Baroque style characteristic of the Breslau Mint's output.

附加信息

Leopold I's Silesian ducats were struck under the authority of the Breslau mint following the Habsburg reassertion of control over the region — a grip tightened considerably after the suppression of Protestant resistance through the Thirty Years' War. The fractional quarter ducat served the dense merchant economy of Breslau, one of the most commercially active cities in Central Europe at the time, where small gold was genuinely used rather than hoarded.

The twelve-year striking window for KM#597 spans Leopold's final campaigns against the Ottomans and the opening of the War of the Spanish Succession, years during which imperial finances were under sustained pressure from two simultaneous military fronts.
