The helm is surmounted by a bishop's mitre with flanking supporters, and the mantling falls symmetrically to either side of the shield. The quartered coat of arms of the Montfort family occupies the central shield. The date 1730 is split across the lower field to either side of the escutcheon, and the legend PRO DEO ET LEGE encircles the composition, separated by small star ornaments. |

Quarter ducats of this type were emergency-weight fractions, struck when full ducats were impractical for small transactions but silver coinage was distrusted. Anthony III's issues across this eight-year window show minor die variation consistent with hand-cut punches rather than a centralized imperial hub. The survival rate is low; these circulated hard in Alpine trade routes where gold fractions changed hands constantly.
