正面描述 Bare-headed effigy of King Othon facing left, rendered in neoclassical style with naturalistic detailing of the hair and a short moustache. The portrait is boldly modelled in high relief against a smooth field. The circumscribed Greek legend reads ΟΘΩΝ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ, running along the inner border from lower left to lower right. The coin is framed by a fine beaded border.

附加信息

Othon's small silver fractions were struck at the Athens mint during a period when the Greek monetary system was still consolidating around the drachma introduced after independence. The 1/4 drachma saw limited practical use — its purchasing power was marginal even by mid-19th century standards — and the series was quietly discontinued as the denomination proved more trouble than it was worth in everyday commerce.
