Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King Othon facing left, rendered in neoclassical style with naturalistic detailing of the hair and a short moustache. The portrait is boldly modelled in high relief against a smooth field. The circumscribed Greek legend reads ΟΘΩΝ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ, running along the inner border from lower left to lower right. The coin is framed by a fine beaded border.
