The composition, designed by Emily S. Damstra and engraved by Renata Gordon, conveys the expansive open-sky character of the preserve's native ecosystem. The state name KANSAS and the park inscription TALLGRASS PRAIRIE arc across the upper and lower periphery respectively, with the date 2020 and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM completing the legend. The designer's initials appear discreetly within the field. |
