Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of George Washington, based on John Flanagan's classic portrait design derived from a Houdon sculpture, occupies the center of the field. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs along the upper periphery, while QUARTER DOLLAR curves along the lower rim. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST appears in three lines to the right of the portrait, and LIBERTY is inscribed to the lower left. The Philadelphia Mint mark 'P' appears to the right of Washington's ribbon-tied queue, and the designer's initials 'JF' are incused at the base of the bust.

Reverse description The central device depicts two pairs of hands in close detail: one hand, from the upper right, reaches downward to present a sheathed sword by the hilt, while a second hand grasps the weapon from below, evoking the British surrender at the Battle of Saratoga in 1777. A tricorn hat and a decorated military cocked hat are visible in the lower left field, reinforcing the historical narrative. The inscription BRITISH SURRENDER 1777 appears in italic script in the right field. The legend SARATOGA arcs along the upper border, NEW YORK is inscribed along the lower left periphery, and E PLURIBUS UNUM along the lower right. The date 2015 appears at the bottom, with engravers' initials BF and RG visible at the lower center of the field.
