Obverse description Left-facing bust effigy of George Washington, first President of the United States (1789–1797), rendered in the style of John Flanagan's classic portrait after the Houdon bust. The legend LIBERTY arcs above the effigy, IN GOD WE TRUST appears in the left field, and QUARTER DOLLAR is inscribed below, with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA flanking the design. The overall composition reflects the traditional Washington Quarter obverse design established in 1932.
