The Olympic National Park quarter is part of the America the Beautiful series, authorized under the America's Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008. The five-ounce silver bullion version was introduced in 2010 as a companion product to the circulating clad quarters, struck at Philadelphia with a "P" mint mark — the first bullion coins from that facility in the modern era.
Olympic National Park in Washington State was designated by Franklin Roosevelt in 1938, carved from land that logging interests had aggressively lobbied to keep out of federal protection.
