背面描述 A portrait of Nina Otero-Warren, pioneering suffragist and New Mexico politician, is depicted to the left of the design field, rendered in a dignified three-quarter view. Three individual Yucca flowers — the state flower of New Mexico — flank her figure, their tall stalks and blossoms filling the surrounding field in an elegant naturalistic arrangement. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR appear along the upper and lower periphery respectively, with E PLURIBUS UNUM and the honoree's name NINA OTERO-WARREN inscribed within the field. The Spanish phrase VOTO PARA LA MUJER, meaning 'Votes for Women,' is also prominent, referencing her historic role in the women's suffrage movement.

附加信息

Nina Otero-Warren was a suffragist who helped push the 19th Amendment through New Mexico despite the state's significant Spanish-speaking population being largely excluded from its practical benefits — a contradiction she spent years working to resolve through bilingual education reform and her work with the Santa Fe public school system. She ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in 1922, becoming the first woman nominated by a major party for Congress in New Mexico, though she lost the general election.

This .999 silver version was produced for collectors as part of the American Women Quarters Program, which Congress authorized in 2020 to run through 2025.
