Reverse description The reverse depicts an ox-drawn covered wagon carrying westward-bound pioneers, evoking the era of Manifest Destiny and the settlement of the Great Plains. In the background rises Chimney Rock, the iconic natural sandstone formation located along the North Platte River in present-day Nebraska, which served as a landmark for emigrants on the Oregon, California, and Mormon Trails. The state name NEBRASKA arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by the state's year of admission to the Union, 1867, at lower left. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM appears along the lower border, and the date 2006 is inscribed in the lower field alongside the artist's initials CLV.
