Reverse description The reverse features two large, naturalistic magnolia blossoms with prominent stamens, set among broad leaves that fill the central field, as designed by Donna Weaver. The state name MISSISSIPPI arcs along the upper legend, accompanied by the date 1817, denoting Mississippi's year of statehood. The nickname THE MAGNOLIA STATE appears in script lettering within the right field. The designer's initials DW are discretely incused near the lower right. The mint year 2002 and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM are inscribed along the lower rim.
