Hot Springs National Park, established in 1832 as a federal reservation, is the oldest unit in what would eventually become the National Park Service — predating Yellowstone by forty years. The quarter was issued as part of the America the Beautiful series, which Congress authorized in 2008 to run through 2021, cycling five new designs annually across U.S. territories and national parks.
