Beschrijving keerzijde A dramatic panoramic view of the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona occupies the central field, depicting the layered canyon walls and the Colorado River winding through the canyon floor, rendered in deeply sculpted high relief. The scene is divided between an open vista of the canyon's vast geological strata on the left and a close-up view of the sheer stratified cliff face on the right. The legend GRAND CANYON arcs along the upper rim, with ARIZONA inscribed along the lower left and E PLURIBUS UNUM along the lower right. The date 2010 appears at the bottom center beneath the central design. The composition, designed by Susan Gamble and sculpted by Joseph Menna, captures the grandeur and geological complexity of one of America's most celebrated natural landmarks.

Aanvullende informatie

The America the Beautiful silver bullion program launched in 2010 as the five-ounce companion to the circulating quarter series authorized by the America's Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008. Grand Canyon was among the five inaugural subjects that first year. These bullion strikes differ from the collector "specimen" versions by their lack of a "P" mint mark — struck at Philadelphia but deliberately unmarked to distinguish them from the numismatic issues, a detail that still catches buyers off guard.
