背面描述 A dynamic historical scene depicts Revolutionary War hero George Rogers Clark leading his troops through the flooded bottomlands of the Wabash River valley as they approach Fort Sackville at Vincennes, Indiana, during the winter campaign of 1779. The figures are rendered in detailed relief, conveying the hardship of the march through icy floodwaters. The inscription 'GEORGE ROGERS CLARK' arcs along the upper periphery, with 'INDIANA' and the date '2017' appearing in the lower field. The motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' is also present in the field.

附加信息

The George Rogers Clark National Historical Park quarter was issued as part of the America the Beautiful series, which Congress authorized in 2008 to run through 2021. Clark's 1779 winter campaign against British-held Fort Sackville at Vincennes is considered one of the most consequential — and improbable — military operations of the Revolutionary War: he marched roughly 170 men through flooded Illinois bottomlands in February to take a garrison the British considered unreachable in winter.

Silver Proof examples carry .900 fine composition, a standard revived for collector issues after decades of clad circulation strikes.
