Reverse description The reverse depicts a dramatic scene of Sergeant William Jasper heroically returning the regimental flag to the ramparts of Fort Moultrie during the British naval bombardment of June 28, 1776. Jasper is shown in period military attire, straining forward against cannon fire to raise the fallen standard, evoking the patriotic resolve that defined the engagement. The legend FORT MOULTRIE arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by the designer's initials RS and JFM. SOUTH CAROLINA is inscribed in the lower field, with the date 2016 and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM completing the reverse legends.
