| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of George Washington, the first President of the United States, rendered in high relief in the proof cameo style after the original effigy designed by John Flanagan. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs along the upper rim, while QUARTER DOLLAR curves along the lower rim. The inscription LIBERTY appears to the left of the portrait, and IN GOD WE TRUST is positioned to the right in three lines. The date 2008 is incused at the base of the portrait, and the San Francisco Mint mark S is situated below the motto to the right. |
