| Reverse description | Full-color reproduction of Vincent van Gogh's celebrated oil painting Café Terrace at Night (1888), applied to the entire rectangular field of the coin. The composition depicts a warmly illuminated café terrace on the Place du Forum in Arles, France, rendered in van Gogh's characteristically vigorous impasto style with bold contrasts of deep cobalt blue and brilliant yellow-gold tones. Patrons and a white-aproned waiter are visible beneath the glowing awning of the terrace, while figures promenade along the darkened cobblestone street receding into the nocturnal cityscape. A starlit deep-blue sky fills the upper portion of the composition, punctuated by vivid white and golden star forms. No inscriptions or legends appear on the reverse. |
