| Obverse description | Central field bearing the Arabic mint inscription within a roughly circular cartouche, executed in relief in the traditional Moroccan hammered style. The legend reads 'Struck in Marrakesh' in flowing Arabic script, occupying the majority of the flan. The design is characteristically unadorned, consistent with the utilitarian aesthetic of the Alaoui dynasty's hammered coinage. The flan shows the irregular, slightly flan-cracked edges typical of cast and hammered production. A suspension hole is present at the upper right, indicating later use as a pendant. |
