The date, corresponding to AH 1284 (1868), is prominently rendered in large Eastern Arabic numerals occupying the lower portion of the field, with the mint name Fes inscribed above. The reverse is struck on an irregular planchet with a scalloped edge characteristic of this hammered issue.
