Jordan's late 1990s coinage program was driven partly by a push to rationalize the circulating series following the peace treaty with Israel and the economic adjustments that followed King Hussein's final years on the throne — he died in February 1999, just months after this piece was struck. KM#Pn21 was never adopted for circulation.
