| Obverse description | Left-facing effigy of King Hussein bin Talal occupying the central field, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail including a collared jacket. A circular Arabic legend surrounds the effigy, reading along both sides of the field from upper right to lower left, identifying the monarch and his kingdom. The overall design is bold and sculptural, consistent with the medallic presentation expected of a pattern issue. |

Pattern coinage from the Central Bank of Jordan rarely surfaces in collector hands, and this nickel brass quarter dinar trial is no exception. Jordan's late 1990s coinage program was driven partly by a push to rationalize the circulating series following the peace treaty with Israel and the economic adjustments that followed King Hussein's final years on the throne — he died in February 1999, just months after this piece was struck.
KM#Pn21 was never adopted for circulation.
