| Opis awersu | A rampant lion passant-reguardant facing left occupies the central field, depicted in high relief with elaborately rendered mane and forepaws raised in an aggressive posture, characteristic of the heraldic style of the Low Countries. The figure is contained within an inner beaded circle. Surrounding this border, a circular Latin legend reads the titulature of Henry of Brederode, separated by floral or rosette stops. The lettering is boldly struck in the Gothic tradition typical of hammered coinage of the mid-sixteenth century Netherlands. |
