Obverse description A rampant lion passant-reguardant facing left occupies the central field, depicted in high relief with elaborately rendered mane and forepaws raised in an aggressive posture, characteristic of the heraldic style of the Low Countries. The figure is contained within an inner beaded circle. Surrounding this border, a circular Latin legend reads the titulature of Henry of Brederode, separated by floral or rosette stops. The lettering is boldly struck in the Gothic tradition typical of hammered coinage of the mid-sixteenth century Netherlands.

Reverse description The Virgin Mary, radiant and crowned, is depicted facing front in a mandorla-like aureole of rays, seated on a crescent moon and holding the Christ Child in her left arm while bearing a sceptre in her right hand. The composition is enclosed within an inner beaded circle, with the Madonna motif filling the central field in a devotional style consistent with the Madonnadaalder type widespread in the sixteenth-century Low Countries. A circular Latin legend surrounds the beaded border, invoking the Holy Virgin Mary and separated by decorative stops. The overall design reflects the deeply Catholic iconographic tradition maintained in Vianen coinage under Henry of Brederode.
