Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing bust of Princess Victoria Kaʻiulani, heir apparent to the Hawaiian throne, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair swept up and curled at the crown. The effigy occupies the central field in a classical portraiture style. The circumferential legend reads •PRINCESS VICTORIA•KAIULANI•HEIR APPARENT 1891• along the upper border, with HAWAII appearing below the bust and the issue year 1996 to the left of the portrait. The mintmark RHM (Royal Hawaiian Mint) appears in small letters beneath HAWAII, and the entire design is framed by a beaded inner border.

Reverse description A large, ornate Hawaiian royal crown in high relief dominates the central field, featuring arched bands adorned with foliate and beaded decoration, surmounted by a globus cruciger finial. The crown rests on a cushioned base with elaborate leafwork and bead embellishments. The upper circumferential legend reads ROYAL HAWAIIAN GOLD, while the lower arc bears ✠ HAPAHA CROWN ✠, flanked by decorative cross ornaments. Beneath the crown in the lower field, the denomination 1/4 and the fineness inscription OZ. .9999 GOLD appear, accompanied by the copyright notice ©1994. The design is framed by a reeded inner border.
