Outside the circle, the denomination legend 'CEYLON · QUARTER · CENT' arcs around the upper portion, while the fractional value '1/4' appears at centre left and the date is positioned at the bottom. A decorative Greek-key border mirrors that of the obverse, running between the inner circle and the milled rim.
