| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of James Brooke, first White Rajah of Sarawak, facing left, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail. The portrait displays strong facial features and wavy hair, characteristic of mid-Victorian engraving style. The legend J. BROOKE RAJAH curves along the upper periphery of the broad flan, with the inscription divided on either side of the effigy. The field is smooth and slightly concave around the portrait, consistent with a pattern striking on an enlarged flan. |
