Reverse description The Lion of Judah striding powerfully to the right, bearing a raised sceptre or staff surmounted by a cross in its right forepaw, wearing an imperial crown upon its head. A flowing banner or flag is attached to the staff. The lion is depicted in profile with an open mouth and detailed mane, set upon a ground line. A circular Ge'ez legend surrounds the central device, and the denomination inscription appears in the lower exergue.
