Obverse description The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Panama in high relief at center, featuring a quartered shield with symbols of the isthmus — crossed swords and rifle in the upper quarters, a cornucopia and shovel in the lower quarters, and a condor with spread wings surmounting the shield. Flanking the shield are sprigs of vegetation on either side. The curved legend REPVBLICA - DE - PANAMA arcs along the upper periphery, accompanied by a row of nine five-pointed stars, with the date 1982 appearing in the lower exergue.
