Reverse description The reverse field bears a concise Arabic mint inscription in nasta'liq calligraphy, densely filling the small irregular flan. The legend records the mint of issue, 'Zarb Herat' (struck at Herat), typical of Safavid provincial gold coinage of the reign of Shah Tahmasp I. The execution is bold but somewhat crowded due to the quarter-unit flan, with the letters showing the characteristic Safavid hammered style. No additional decorative elements or border are present.
