Obverse description The obverse features a central field bearing three lines of Arabic script reading 'مسقط' (Muscat) and 'ضربت' (struck), above the Hijri date '١٣١٢' (1312 AH). The central legends are framed by a continuous circular border legend in Latin script reading 'SULTAN FAISAL BIN TURKI IMAM MUSCAT', running around the full circumference of the coin. The design is purely epigraphic in character, with no figurative elements, consistent with Islamic numismatic tradition. The coin has no central circle, distinguishing this variety (KM#4.2) from the related type KM#4.1.
