A genuine mule: the obverse die from the Sa'id ibn Sultan coinage was paired with a reverse prepared for the reign of Faisal ibn Turki, producing a coin that belongs cleanly to neither issue. The dual dating reflects the transitional moment between the two sultans rather than a deliberate commemorative intent — this was a production error, not a policy.
Cordry's documentation of this type remains the most specific treatment of Omani mule varieties from the Muscat series.
