Beschrijving keerzijde A dynamic high-relief depiction of the Archangel Michael, winged and nimbed, subduing a serpentine dragon in the central field. The archangel is shown in a muscular, semi-draped figure thrusting a long lance downward into the writhing beast beneath him, whose clawed limbs and coiled tail extend across the lower field. A braided rope border frames the entire composition. The denomination inscription AU .999 1/4 OUNCE ANGEL appears in the lower exergue in bold lettering.

Aanvullende informatie

The Angel series has been issued by the Isle of Man since 1984, originally conceived as a bullion coin explicitly free from VAT under Manx tax law — a deliberate commercial advantage over Britannia and Krugerrand issues at the time of launch. The fractional denominations were introduced shortly after to compete with the quarter-ounce market dominated by the Krugerrand and Maple Leaf.

Charles III's accession in September 2022 required new obverse dies across all Crown Dependencies. The Isle of Man Treasury moved faster than most, with updated coinage appearing well before several Commonwealth nations completed their transitions.
