| Obverse description | Central field displays a large cursive royal cypher 'GR' (Georgius Rex) in an elaborate interlaced script surmounted by a St. Edward's Crown. The cypher and crown are encircled by a symmetrical laurel and oak wreath tied at the base. The date '1796' is inscribed along the upper periphery, flanking the crown, divided at the apex. The milled coin border is formed by a fine beaded rim. |
