Obverse description Two crossed papal keys arranged saltire-wise occupy the central field, each key depicted with an ornate bow at the top and a square bit at the base, rendered in high relief against a plain gold field. The keys, emblematic of the arms of Regensburg as a Free Imperial City, are boldly modelled and fill nearly the entire coin surface. A toothed or beaded border runs around the periphery of the flan.
