| Reverse description | Central design features a bold double-barred or long cross extending to the inner circle, dividing the field into four quarters, each containing a quatrefoil or rosette motif in relief. The cross arms are plain and robust, consistent with Gothic monetary types of the period. A beaded inner circle frames the central design. The surrounding legend, in Gothic uncial script, reads ✠ MOnETA × S × MIChAELIS, identifying this as the money of Saint-Mihiel, the mint town associated with the Duchy of Bar. The overall composition reflects the standard reverse type of regional French feudal gros coinage of the late 14th century. |
