1.25 Leu Prova

Romania's postwar coinage reorganization produced a handful of pattern and prova pieces as the government tested compositions and denominations that never reached circulation. The 1.25 leu denomination itself was an awkward fraction — never adopted — likely floated as a compromise between the existing 1 leu and proposed 2 leu pieces during a period when nickel supply and coin production costs were being actively debated by the Finance Ministry.
