| 裏面の説明 | Highly detailed naturalistic depiction of a male Western capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) perched upon a gnarled tree branch, with its tail fanned and wings partially spread in a display posture. A tree trunk with deeply rendered bark texture occupies the right portion of the field, against which the curved legend GALL FER is inscribed vertically in bold Latin characters. The fine feather detail and dramatic composition fill the coin field, creating a striking wildlife portrait in high relief. |

Andorra began issuing circulation coinage denominated in euros only in 2014, following a monetary agreement with the EU signed in 2011 — notably without ever being an EU member state. The fractional denominations above one euro, including this 1.25 euro piece, have no equivalent anywhere else in the eurozone and exist purely because Andorra's agreement permitted it to define its own non-standard circulation values.
The Western capercaillie has been functionally extinct in Andorra's Pyrenean forests for decades, its disappearance driven by habitat fragmentation and ski infrastructure development.
