| Reverse description | Central device depicting a scarab beetle derived from the pectoral jewel of Tutankhamun, rendered in high relief and faithful to the original ancient Egyptian artifact. The composite design faithfully reproduces the hieroglyphic elements of the pectoral, in which the scarab (kheperu, meaning 'form' or 'being') occupies the centre, flanked above by a solar disc representing the god Re and below by a neb basket meaning 'lord', collectively spelling the pharaoh's throne name Nebkheperure, translating as 'Lord of the Forms of Re'. The inscription TUTANKHAMUN appears in the upper field and ONE CROWN in the lower field, framing the central device. |
