| Additional information |
Issued under the Isle of Man Treasury's aggressive licensing strategy of the early 2000s, this piece belongs to a Harry Potter series timed to coincide with the theatrical release of Chamber of Secrets. The Isle of Man had by that point established itself as one of the most prolific producers of licensed commemorative coinage in the world, using its status as a Crown dependency to issue legal tender outside UK Royal Mint authority.
The 1/25 Crown denomination is specific to Isle of Man gold bullion fractionals and corresponds to roughly one gram of fine gold — a format the treasury used extensively for collectible series throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s.
