Frederick Ulrich's reign over Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel was marked almost immediately by administrative dysfunction — his councillors effectively governed while he pursued hunting and drink, and the small fractional coinage of these years reflects the broader fragmentation of monetary production across the Lower Saxon Circle. The 1618–1619 window coincides precisely with the outbreak of the Thirty Years' War, which would devastate the Brunswick territories and eventually force massive debasement of regional silver coinage throughout the 1620s.

KM#80 predates that debasement collapse by only a few years.
