Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, the crowned rampant griffin of Pomerania faces left, displayed with wings spread and forelegs raised, rendered in a robust baroque style. The creature's crowned head turns back toward the viewer, with detailed feathering on the wings and scaled body. The circular Latin legend surrounds the inner circle, reading CAROLUS XI. D.G. REX. SUECIÆ., identifying the issuer as Charles XI, King of Sweden by the grace of God.
