Obverse description The prancing horse of Brunswick, rearing to the left, stands upon a ground line, serving as the traditional heraldic symbol of the duchy. The mintmaster's initials appear in the exergue below the ground line. The circumferential legend reads CAROLVS D G DVX BRVNS ET LVN, identifying the ruler as Charles, by the Grace of God Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg. The coin features a beaded border encircling the entire design.
