Obverse description Central field bears the Saxon arms shield, divided per pale with alternating barry of ten or and sable on the dexter side and a diagonal bend, rendered in relief with fine dot-and-line engraving characteristic of early 19th-century German minting. The shield is uncrowned and displayed without supporters. The initials S, W, and E appear arranged around the upper portion of the field, serving as the abbreviated legend for Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach. The overall design is simple and utilitarian, consistent with the small billon coinage of the German states of the period.
