Obverse description Central field displays the crowned arms of Saxony and Poland-Lithuania combined, presented as a quartered shield surmounted by a royal crown and flanked by elaborate foliate scrollwork. The shield incorporates the Saxon rautenkranz (rue crown) and the Polish eagle with Lithuanian Pahonia. Mintmaster initials ILH appear in the exergue below the shield. The surrounding Latin legend reads: AUG. D.G. REX POL. DUX SAX., identifying Augustus II as King of Poland and Duke of Saxony.
