| Obverse description | Crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed at center, with spread wings and detailed feather work rendered in the German baroque style. The eagle's breast bears a small escutcheon depicting the Lübeck city arms (a double-barred cross). The circular legend CIVITAT - IMPERIALIS runs along the periphery, affirming Lübeck's status as a free imperial city. The field is plain and unadorned, with the eagle occupying the majority of the coin's face. |

| Additional information |
Lübeck's stubborn retention of its Free City status through the Thirty Years' War — which ended in 1648, just a few years into this type's run — meant the city maintained its own monetary authority while much of northern Germany was being reorganized under competing territorial powers. The 1/24 Reichsdaler denomination was the workhorse of the north German small-change economy, pegged to the Reichsthaler through the Leipzig Foot of 1566, a monetary convention that outlasted the political chaos surrounding it by well over a century.
