Obverse description Central field dominated by the ornate Ottoman imperial tughra of Sultan Mehmed V, rendered in fine calligraphic relief with characteristic looped and interlaced strokes rising vertically from a broad horizontal base. Floral rosette ornaments flank the upper portion of the tughra on both sides. Below the tughra, the regnal year numeral appears in Arabic-Indic script, accompanied by the word 'سنه' (meaning 'year'). The mint mark 'H' for the Heaton Mint, Birmingham, appears at the very bottom of the field. The entire design is set within a raised rim with no additional border decoration.
