Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King João VI facing right, rendered in the characteristic crude hammered style of the Goa mint. The royal portrait is surrounded by a circular legend reading GOA MEI X followed by the date, with linear border. The bust displays curled hair beneath the laurel wreath, with drapery visible at the shoulder truncation. The lettering MEI X is an abbreviation for Meia Xerafim (Half Xerafim), incorporated into the obverse legend. The overall relief is bold though irregular, typical of colonial hammered coinage produced at the Goa mint in this period.
