Beschrijving voorzijde Central field features the Portuguese royal arms: a quartered shield displaying the five escutcheons of Portugal arranged in a cross pattern, each bearing five roundels (quinas), enclosed within a plain border. The shield is surmounted by an ornate crown composed of arches and pellets, rendered in a bold, somewhat crude hammered style characteristic of colonial Indian minting. The overall design is contained within an irregular, slightly rounded rectangular flan with no surrounding legend. The heraldic composition is deeply struck, with the shield occupying the majority of the coin's surface.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse displays a plain cross dividing the field into four quarters, with the date of issue split across the quadrants: '17' in the upper right, '32' (or the respective year variant) in the lower right, and partial numerals in the remaining quarters. Small pellets or dots appear at the extremities of the cross arms. The design is characteristically sparse and functional, with no surrounding legend, reflecting the hammered cob-style coinage produced at the Diu mint for colonial circulation. The flan is irregular and the strike is uneven, typical of this series.
